Church History
1998
In May, the Hong Kong Alliance Mission sent missionaries Rev. and Mrs. Pang to plant a church in the Merton district, with missionary Rev. Poon serving as a voluntary staff member.
1999-2007
The Oasis Church in Colliers Wood generously offered their building free of charge, allowing SLAC to hold its first worship service on 3 January. In May 2004, SLAC was officially registered as a non-profit organisation in the UK, followed by the establishment of the Board of Deacons in June of the same year.
2007-2010
In October 2007, the church began meeting at Wimbledon Methodist Church. During this period, a Mandarin Fellowship was established, and both the Mission Fund and Pastoral Fund were set up. SLAC also actively supported various members in participating in short-term missions and committing to full-time ministry.
In 2008, Mr. David Tang finished his theology studies and began serving in SLAC primarily.
In January 2010, as missionaries Rev. and Mrs. Pang transitioned to a new ministry, the church welcomed Rev. and Mrs. Sham and Pastor and Mrs. To (who served until 2014) to join the pastoral team.
2010-2012
In November 2010, the church began meeting at St. Andrew’s Church. During this period, various camps and retreats were organised to cater to different ages and groups. In May 2011, the church launched bilingual worship services in both Cantonese and Mandarin.
2013-2017
SLAC continued to meet at St. Andrew’s Church. During this time, a property in Sigrist Square, Kingston, was purchased and let out, with the aim of building up funds for a future church acquisition. Pastor Lam served as a voluntary pastoral staff member until 2014.
In January 2017, Pastor Rock joined SLAC. During this period, various courses were launched to cater to individuals at different stages of their faith journey, and participation in short-term missions was actively promoted.
2021-2026
In October 2021, the church began meeting at the EnhanceAble Centre. In November, the original property was sold, and a Church Centre was established at 244 Malden Way.
In October 2022, as the number of worshippers increased, Rev. Cheung was appointed to oversee the Hong Kong immigrant ministry. In August 2025, Rev. Cheung officially became the Minister-in-Charge. In January 2024, Jeremy Chiu joined as a voluntary pastor to assist with the youth ministry. In June of the same year, Pastor Wong was appointed to take primary responsibility for children’s and youth ministries.
In January 2026, missionaries Rev. and Mrs. Sham officially retired. In April of the same year, Ms. Kammy Chin joined SLAC, taking charge of women's ministry and children's Sunday school.
